Since my most recent posts featured mostly smaller scenes, I thought I might switch gears and show some grand landscapes. And it’s hard to find a better location for grand landscapes than Grand Teton National Park.

Of course the Tetons are a wonderful place to photograph intimate landscapes – and wildlife too. But it’s hard to avoid the draw of those big mountains. They’re magnetic, and if conditions lend themselves to photographing the mountains, I’ll try to take advantage of that.

Interesting weather always adds something these big scenes, and we had lots of that during our stay in the Tetons, both before and during the Out of Grand Teton conference. Pulses of monsoonal moisture kept pushing up from the south, bringing showers and thunderstorms – along with clouds, mist, sunbeams, and all sorts of atmospheric effects. Which were all fun to photograph.

So here’s a collection of mountain images I made recently in the Tetons. I’ll post more smaller scenes soon, and maybe some wildlife photos as well.
